When you are on a diet – it can be frustrating finding a snack that you can easily eat. Why you are always counting calories and worrying that this snack is “okay” on your diet. String cheese is full of calcium and is a great snack for any dieter. Quite portable in its own container. Most string cheese is under 100 calories per serving. Grape tomatoes and cottage cheese is a great snack for a dieter. Grape tomatoes have slightly sweeter taste than cherry tomatoes but they are about the same size. If you love the cherry tomato - you’ve got to give the grape tomato a try. A good snack size would be a half-cup of cottage cheese and a cup of cherry tomatoes. This snack is very filling and would give you lots of vitamins and also calcium from the cottage cheese.
Greek yogurt with honey is a wonderful, decadent treat that any dieter would enjoy. If you are looking for a snack that is creamy and sweet – try getting fat-free Greek yogurt and add a teaspoon of honey to your yogurt. Greek yogurt has 20 grams of protein, so you are getting lots of protein in this serving of yogurt – not just calcium! Honey offers you natural sugar and some healthy sweetness without too much of a sugary taste.
Frozen fruit is a terrific snack for any dieter that is having a major ice cream craving. Try frozen raspberries or blackberries for a chilly and sweet treat that will literally have you licking the bowl for a very low calorie count. Frozen fruit is lower in vitamins and fiber than fresh fruit but you’ll enjoy the taste of frozen fruit if you are craving ice cream or sorbet.
A small serving of almonds or walnuts is an ideal snack for many dieters. Research has shown that dieters who snack on nuts actually have fewer cravings than other dieters. The key is eating a very small number of nuts. So if you can keep your count of almonds to about 20 almonds – then try this great snack. If you are too tempted to overeat the nuts then this is not a good snack choice for you.
